Update: Mama Gin 1923-2009

Poor George asked me to thank you all for your kind comments about Mama Gin. He also wanted me to post this picture of her as a lovely young woman.
George was not happy initially with Mama Gin's celebrity status on the web, but I think I've convinced him that these posts have allowed her to develop a fan base that she would not have had otherwise. It's wonderful that you all know and appreciate her as the quirky woman she was.

Although the picture below is not as flattering as the one above, it is how I - and most of you- will always remember her. Standing in our apartment doorway, issuing edicts and other pronouncements.

Mama Gin

3/25/1923 - 5/4/2009

May she rest in peace.

She was an amazing woman. A little scary, yes, but she loved George, and wanted what she thought was best for him (which granted was completely nuts, but I think her heart was in the right place.

She was a legend and will be missed.

Please give my love to George and Ruby.

Oh, CP and PG... I am so sorry for your loss.

Despite the humor about Mama Gin's antics, I always felt the love in your hearts that you both had for her. I never doubted it for a second.

We'll be keeping you both in our thoughts.

I am so sorry for PG, you, and us... we have all lost something special. I think her spirit will be mulling around for a while though, it's not her style to lay down and rest quietly. Go Mama Gin!

Most mother's love their children and if we go a little overboard on certain days, please excuse us. We loved you. Please tell George that it is clear to all of us mothers, that for good or evil, her interest was for him to be as happy as she could imagine him to be. Love can be a little weird, but it's still love.
