Merry Christmas!

Mindy June called me on Christmas Eve and the first thing out of her mouth was "is it true you have not blogged since December 10? Because I'm thinking something might be wrong with my computer."

"Oh, has it been that long?"

"Yes. You'd better get on the ball, or you're going to lose all your readers."

(CP shrinks in horror.)

I truly am sorry for the extended absence, Gentle Readers. I've been on vacation from work, and I guess my sense of having no responsibility must have spilled over into other parts of my life, like blogging and personal hygiene.

For what it's worth, a vacation where I don't have to travel OR manage psychotic family members was just what I needed. And it's going to continue until January 8. My life fucking ROCKS right now.

Christmas was lovely. Christmas Eve was all-Norwegian-all-the-time, complete with a Norwegian church service and baptism, a buffet dinner that shocked and horrified George, and dancing around the Christmas tree on the roof of the church. It should be noted that Poor George pleased our fellow celebrants with his moving rendition of O Jul med Din Glede, despite his apparent belief that Norwegian carols sound best when sung by the mildly retarded.

We had a peaceful Christmas day, having enjoyed a sumptuous dinner of lobster bisque, rib roast, pan roasted fennel, and baked potatoes, capped off with desserts by Jin. Oddrun and Ruby joined us in our home for this wonderful meal.

And all the while, the crazies remained at a safe distance from me, back in Illinois.

Peace and joy to all of you, my Gentle Readers. I will be back soon.

ps: We have two new kittens. I'm not planning to post about them until we have a new digital camera, since it would practically violate the Geneva Convention to deny you visuals of these cats, the cutest ever to visit this Earth. Not that I'm biased or anything.

Glad to hear about your fabulous dinner and restful, psychotic relative-free holiday. I love seeing other people really enjoy their meals.

Sweetie, I thought one of the crazies lived right upstairs? Glad you had a good Christmas and are enjoying your much needed break. Kisses to you and George.

Merry Christmas back at you, Bubs!

Lu, did you get my message about the cats?????????

Mama Gin would be proud to know that it's pussy that's kept you from us these many days and nights Coaster Punchman. Having helped cheapen the proceedings with that, I would just say that I'm very glad you had a great holiday. The meal sounds delicious.

What no lutefisk? Yummies! I sure did miss you, but Christmas in New York! I wouldn't blog either.

Oh, we had rib roast, smashed potatoes and green beans.

Oh my god, I thought you were dead. Good thing I didn't get all the day to chiseling the date on your gravestone.

And maybe we can white out the part about "baby hater..."

Message? As in phone or email? Or the part on the blog? I read it yes. Are they really cuter than Edward? I find that hard to believe.

I thought something was wrong with my computer too! Nice to have you back.

Cuter than Edward? What????? It is not physically possible in this universe. Edward is offended at the mere suggestion that something has eclipsed his fabuous cuteness. I am going to release him and let him do what he will. Be afraid.

Funny you should mention that, Dale. I have a few Mama Gin stories involving gurls to share ... soon.

Thanks Grant. You'll never lose me as a stalker.

Your meal sounded great as well, Old Lady. Did you cook? And no, no lutefisk this year. We seem to have contained that tradition to the midwest, although there are some parts of Norway where they still eat it, too.

Mombi, I am touched that you would volunteer to tend my gravestone. I'll send you the details soon.

Lu, I left you a voice mail the very date of the adoption (a week ago Saturday.) One kitten, unfortunately (?) has the same first name as your niece. The shelter had already named her that, and we liked it so it stayed. Sorry.

WT, good to be back. Any place I'm closer to you is good to be.

Ten-S, I realize it doesn't seem possible that any cat could be cuter than Edward. Unfortunately, these two are. Mainly because they're mine. Sorry.

Sounds like a lovely holiday. I too enjoy travel-free vacations. Nothing like hanging out at home with no responsibilities. Looking forward to those kitty pictures.

It was a lovely holiday. Even though I am home, it seems I still have a number of responsibilities that I am being successful at neglecting. Today I took a "day off" and did not dress or bathe. I still feel guilty... need to shed that somehow.
