Sakura 2006

We have an enormous ornamental cherry tree in our back yard. Once a year in the spring it explodes into millions of fluffy pink blossoms, and is quite breathtaking, at least until the blossoms rain all over the yard and turn brown before we've had a chance to sweep and rake them up.

Every year, when the tree blossoms, we celebrate the Japanese festival of Sakura with a dinner party for our Japanese friends. This year we had Emiri with Imran, and Yuka with Vincent.

We also surprised Emiri with a birthday-tiramisu.

For the third year in a row, the weather was inappropriate for dining outdoors under the cherry tree, so we had to bring the party inside by decorating the entire apartment with vases of blossoms.

The apartment looks great! Is there still a bed in the kitchen for me?

Jennifer,
We should trade tiramisu recipes. Although yours is probably all organic, I'm sure ours is not...

Lu,
No more bed in the kitchen, sorry. The piano is where the bed used to be. You should see the place now, you'd hardly recognize it. I can actually stand up straight in the whole apartment! And the bathroom is now built for normal sized people instead of elves.

Hmmm...recipe...as in exact amounts?
lol
I have trouble with this concept most of the time.
I just soak ladyfingers in fresly brewed espresso & line my dish/tart/molded choc. shell (whatever I'm using).
Dissolve raw sugar in heavy cream, then whip in mixer with a few tubs of mascarpone, vanilla, a sprinkle of dutch cocoa & a bit of espresso.
I almost never make it to sell, because I love it so much...that if I make it too many times I'll get sick of it!
Now that I'm thinking about it, I might make it this weekend, I've got a craving!!!

Our recipe is strikingly similar, except that we include Marsala wine in the mix.

Let me know how yours turns out this weekend!!!
